Founder’s Story

Cindy’s path to founding BodyFit began at the University of Connecticut, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy, before going on to complete her Master’s Degree in Advanced Orthopedics at Quinnipiac University — attending evening classes while working full time throughout the program. For Cindy, that sacrifice was never in question. The program’s emphasis on hands-on, clinical education was exactly what she was after — the kind of training that translates directly to patient outcomes, not just credentials on a wall.

What followed was 35 years of clinical practice that took her far beyond the traditional therapy setting — and shaped a philosophy of care that is anything but ordinary. Throughout her career, Cindy wove home-based physical therapy alongside her outpatient orthopedic work — first as a way to supplement her income in the early years of her career, and later as a flexible complement to outpatient care during the years she was raising her three boys. That sustained exposure to treating patients in their own environments, navigating real-world limitations and unpredictable conditions, sharpened a clinical adaptability that no single practice setting could have built on its own. She also completed four years of specialized aquatic therapy practice, adding a uniquely effective option for patients who need low-impact, high-result rehabilitation.

Cindy’s manual therapy expertise is among the most comprehensive in the region. She holds certifications in three distinct dry needling methods, cupping, IASTM, and Kinesiotaping through RockTape, and draws from the Maitland, Mulligan, and McKenzie frameworks to match the right technique to the right patient at the right time. She is TPI Level 1 Certified and TPI Fitness Certified — bringing a specialized clinical lens to golfers who want to play better and stay on the course longer.

A pivotal chapter in Cindy’s professional development came when she became a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer. Far more than a fitness credential, it fundamentally shaped the way she approaches both rehabilitation and progressive training. The CrossFit methodology — rooted in functional movement, mechanics before intensity, and consistency over time — gave Cindy a precise framework for establishing the foundational movement patterns every patient and training client needs, whether they are recovering from injury or building strength for life. That same commitment to movement quality and purposeful loading runs through every session at BodyFit.

What ties it all together is a conviction that one focused hour with a clinician who truly knows you produces results that fragmented, rushed care simply cannot. That conviction built BodyFit — and it shows up in every session.

Outside the clinic, Cindy is the proud mother of three boys — now in and beyond college — who spent their childhoods on soccer fields across Connecticut. She has channeled that same competitive drive into three marathons: the Disney Marathon, the Boston Marathon, and most recently the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C. These days, family adventures look a little different — biking, hiking, white water rafting, rock climbing, and kayaking, alongside slower, cherished days on the beaches of Cape Cod. For Cindy, staying active is not a professional recommendation. It is simply how she lives.
